region of southern China. Next year, we hope to do something bigger, not only here in the Albergue, but also on Hengqin island, Shanghai or Beijing, why not? But it will always be Macau Fashion link. This year there were two shows, and I hope that next year will have three or four," he added. Eminent fashion producer Paulo Gomes, who for years coordinated Lisbon Fashion Week, was one of the co-curators of the L-Show and described the event as a 'zero' edition.
"This first edition serves for us to finesse our ideas and consider what we will build from here," he said. "In terms of the contents, what we had here was very interesting. It's a sample of what's going on in terms of fashion creation in the Lusophone world. In this 'zero' edition, we could see the seeds of the Lusophone creation in Angola, Brazil, Portugal and Macau."
"I think in the future this event should embrace all the cultures with remnants of Portuguese culture, like Mozambique and East-Timor. Macau is the door to China, just as São Paulo is the door to Brazil and Latin America, so it's very important to include China in this project, and to bring Chinese creators and designers to Macau Fashion Link. Brazil and China are economically very important to this project," he added.
Joining Forces
Acclaimed designers from Portuguese-speaking countries from around the world, came together with local fashion talents for a unique celebration of Lusophone fashion on the evening of November 26, in the magical setting of the Albergue SCM.
This very first 'L-Show' ('L' for Lusophone) was a great success, establishing Macau Fashion Link as a future driving force for collaboration and exchange between fashion designers from Portuguese speaking countries and those from Macau and China. Mr. Carlos Marreiros, president of the Macau Fashion Link organizing committee and General Director of Albergue SCM / ALBcreativeLAB, was extremely happy with the show.
"'L-Show', which is part of Macau Fashion Link, is a sophisticated event and is related to the Lusophone world, and it's a first important step for designers from Portugal, Brazil, Angola and Macau, both Portuguese-speaking and Chinese-speaking professionals. Lusophony is a state of mind, so the language is just a pretext to establish contacts in this
"L-Show" was curated by local designers Manuel C.S. and Clara Brito.
