Macau: between trips

These are images captured in transit between Europe and Asia in the years from 1999 to 2007. They are photographs taken on the fringe of a project on which I work each year: photographing the daily lives of some Chinese ex-students of mine, friends whom I got to know between 1994 and 1998, when I lived in Macau, and with whom I have strengthened the bond more recently. They began as photographs of moments, taken for no apparent reason, which have come to constitute, in themselves, a separate body of work.
